A Coyhaique Guarantee Court on Friday formally charged Ays e9n regional prosecutor Carlos Palma with unlawfully disclosing state secrets by allegedly sharing restricted information with attorney Luis Hermosilla. The court also imposed a nationwide travel ban.
The prosecutor, who is suspended from duty, is the target of a complaint filed by the Council of State. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Palma allegedly provided Hermosilla with confidential details about the seizure of more than 19 kilograms of cocaine.
He is also accused of sending Hermosilla evidence that had not yet been introduced in court: a court‑authorized telephone recording. The alleged leaks occurred in a case pursued under Chile’s Law No. 20,000, which punishes drug trafficking.
