The Comptroller Generals Office accepted a complaint filed by the Colegio de Profesoras y Profesores and formally notified the director of the Iquique Local Public Education Service (SLEP) over far-right candidate Jos e9 Antonio Kasts visit to a high school in the Alto Hospicio municipality during school hours on Friday, October 3.
In response, the Iquique SLEP ordered a summary administrative investigation to gather all relevant background information and emphasized that school principals have been briefed on guidelines for the electoral period to prevent legal breaches and uphold current regulations.
The service also denied taking part in organizing or coordinating the event, noting that management of the school in question is concessioned to a private operator.

Earlier, the teachers unions national president, Mario Aguilar, said the episode was clearly illegal direct proselytizing for Jos e9 Antonio Kasts candidacy at a public school in Alto Hospicio. He added that, in their view, such activity is strictly prohibited and that the Comptroller has long established that public officials cannot engage in this type of conduct during working hours.
