By removing a long-standing illegal dump and converting the site into a new green area, the Municipality of Puente Alto announced it has restored the median on Charles Ar e1nguiz Sandoval Avenue.
«After years of neglect, the Charles Ar e1nguiz median is once again a community space. We eliminated a micro-dump that was affecting the area and turned it into a cleaner, safer, more welcoming green space for our neighbors,» said Mayor Mat edas Toledo.
«There is no doubt that Puente Alto is recovering thanks to the effort and care of its people,» added the mayor, who shared a video on his social channels showing the before-and-after of the urban space, which now looks completely different.
Community Tree-Planting
Restoring public spaces has been a defining priority in the first months of Mayor Mat edas Toledo 27s administration.
Alongside the rehabilitation of the Charles Ar e1nguiz Avenue median, the city is rolling out a Community Tree-Planting Plan that reached a notable milestone in September: more than 2,500 trees were planted across the municipality 27s 18 sectors.
The work took place during dedicated «community tree-planting» days, which drew more than 500 participants, including residents, preschools, and schools.
«In nine months under Mayor Mat edas Toledo, we have visited 24 neighborhoods to plant a variety of native species such as quillay, peumo, quebracho, Chilean carob, mait e9n, boldo, and belloto, as well as exotics including jacaranda, brachychiton, European carob, privet, crepe myrtle, hackberry, and tulip tree,» officials from the Puente Alto municipality explained.
In that vein, the municipal government noted that the community tree-planting days ended in September because the high temperatures of spring and summer are not ideal for planting. «However, we will continue transforming every corner of the commune to improve quality of life for all residents of Puente Alto,» added the municipality led by Mayor Mat edas Toledo.
