On Wednesday, December 3, Vanessa Kaiser, a member of the Libertarian National Party, posted a video on her social media to defend the far-right agenda. In this video, she publicly confused acclaimed author Isabel Allende with the former Socialist senator of the same name, directing her criticism at the wrong person.

Kaiser’s remarks were based on an interview during the launch of Allende’s novel ‘Mi nombre es Emilia del Valle’ last September, where the writer expressed concern about women’s rights against the backdrop of a far-right threat. The newly elected senator then directed her attacks toward the ex-senator, mentioning the controversial case of the attempted sale of Salvador Allende’s house to the state.

Vanessa Kaiser accused the ex-senator of losing her seat in Congress over this scandal and accused her of profiting off the money of all women in Chile. «She was on Radio Futuro and said, referring to Isabel Allende: ‘Women are at a moment of risk, the far-right wants women at home,’» she incorrectly quoted, as those remarks were attributed to the author of ‘The House of the Spirits.’

The Libertarian National Party member referenced her own achievements to dismiss claims she believed were made by Allende’s daughter: «Look, Isabel, I want to say one thing, I am the first woman in La Araucanía’s history elected senator with my own votes. I have two doctorates, I am far-right, I have three wonderful children, I love my siblings, I love my boyfriend. They are not oppressors or patriarchal,» she asserted emphatically.

It is worth noting that Vanessa Kaiser is a recognized figure; a T13 profile published in May 2025 described her as «academically brilliant» and “tough,” highlighting her two doctorates and her critical columns on the current government, while contrasting her low media profile with that of her brothers Axel and Johannes.

Finally, the senator-elect concluded her defense with a confused but firm language aimed at the ex-senator: «The shamelessness that knows no bounds with people who have been in power all their lives, like Isabel Allende, who considers herself part of an untouchable caste. How long will we manipulate women like this?» labeling Allende’s statements as a “struggle.”
