Original article: «Ha sido asesor de los abusos contra el bolsillo de la gente»: Diputado Manouchehri emplazó a Kast por rol de su asesor en colusión de las farmacias y los pollos
Deputy Daniel Manouchehri (PS) confronted the leader and presidential candidate of the Republican Party, José Antonio Kast, over the role of his economic advisor Jorge Quiroz in the chicken and pharmacy collusion cases.
«Kast’s economic advisor is not a neutral expert: he has been an advisor on abuses affecting the financial well-being of the people,» stated Manouchehri, who was re-elected in his Coquimbo constituency with a significant vote count.
Manouchehri recalled that Jorge Quiroz «was behind the consulting used in the collusion cases involving pharmaceuticals and chicken, two of the harshest frauds endured by Chilean families. This is not just opinion: it’s in the verdicts.»
«His paid reports defended the arguments of pharmacy chains that were ultimately convicted. In the case of the chicken collusion, the same executives involved referred to the ‘Quiroz model’ to coordinate their sales strategy,» added the socialist lawmaker.
«Chileans have the right to know what Kast is hiding behind his economic proposals. If his trusted advisor was so close to the collusions, on which side will they govern? Will it be with the families or with the same old guard?» concluded Deputy Manouchehri.
Another legislator who addressed Kast’s evasiveness regarding Jorge Quiroz was Diego Ibáñez, a recently elected senator from the Valparaíso Region for the Broad Front: «The elites involved in the pharmacy and chicken collusion should not govern us again,» said Ibáñez in a video shared on his social media.
«Kast appointed as his economic chief someone who defends pharmacies convicted of collusion and an advisor to companies implicated in the chicken collusion. That should be headline news across all media,» Ibáñez emphasized, ultimately stating that «the next Minister of Finance cannot be a collaborator and planner of collusions.»
