An active police officer was among the members of a criminal gang dismantled by the Investigative Police in the Meiggs neighborhood of Santiago. The operation, named «Operation Eastern Wall,» resulted in over 25 arrests.

In statements to national media, prosecutor Alfredo Cerri (Metropolitana Centro Norte) clarified that the arrested individual is a corporal at the Second Police Station in Santiago, «whose role generally involved providing information about proceedings that were to be executed at various commercial locations, for which he received compensation.»

According to the PDI, «the investigation successfully dismantled an organization made up of Chinese and Chilean citizens operating in the Metropolitan Region, primarily in the Meiggs neighborhood, where they engaged in various illegal activities. During the operation, more than 25 individuals were arrested, and over 600 million pesos in cash was seized, along with drugs, weapons, and ammunition.»
