«Minister’s Actions Endanger My Life»: Priscilla Carrasco Accuses Marín After Resignation Request
Priscilla Carrasco, the former national director of the National Women’s Service and Gender Equity (SernamEG), claimed that Women’s Minister Judith Marín «endangers» her life after being asked to resign, coinciding with her ongoing breast cancer treatment diagnosed in 2025.
Carrasco confirmed that both the minister and other officials in the department were aware of her diagnosis prior to her dismissal.
«I was shocked when I was asked to resign,» she told CNN Chile, arguing that she believes she still holds her position due to legal timeframes.
«The resignation was requested on March 30 at 16:25, and I did not sign it. Therefore, the ministry has 48 hours to inform the Civil Service about this vacancy. Thus, in principle, I should remain the director,» she explained.
Professionally a psychologist and social worker, she entered public service through the Public High Management system, which prioritizes professional competence over political loyalty. However, her departure stemmed from a non-voluntary resignation request initiated by Minister Marín.
During her conversation with the media, Carrasco recounted how the events unfolded. She first received an email from the chief of staff of the undersecretary, requesting her to attend a meeting at La Moneda Palace, which she accepted, as there had been no communication channels since José Antonio Kast’s administration began.
Upon arriving at the meeting, she was greeted by the Undersecretary for Women, Daniela Castro, and the legal chief of the Ministry, who proceeded to inform her about her dismissal.
«The undersecretary informed me of this request from the president, through Minister (Judith Marín), and asked for my resignation on his behalf. The meeting lasted 10 minutes,» she noted, mentioning her surprise at the decision given her health condition.
«My first comment was: you know I have a cancer diagnosis. Regardless, I was shocked to be asked to resign. They confirmed they were aware, and I inquired about the reasons, since I was quite impacted by this news,» she shared.
During the conversation, she requested a few days off before the resignation took effect, which was denied by the authorities.
«I remembered asking if I could take vacation days, so that the resignation would apply from the following days, allowing me to organize my life in light of this decision. They told me no,» she recounted.
«After that, they handed me the paper, and I said I wouldn’t sign anything until I reviewed it with a service lawyer. That was noted on the form they gave me as support,» she recalled.

Carrasco is currently undergoing an oncological process that includes chemotherapy in pill form and immunotherapy every 21 days. She reaffirmed that both Minister Judith Marín and her team were aware of her health status since the transition process and during bilateral meetings.
Moreover, she stated that she had asked then-Minister of Women, Antonia Orellana, to inform her successor about her condition while receiving breast cancer treatment.
«Later, she directly requested a meeting with me on February 27, alongside the undersecretary and her chief of staff, where I informed them of my diagnosis, my status, and which stage I was in: post-mastectomy and undergoing chemotherapy via catheter. Today I am on pill treatment; I provided all the details,» she explained.
Carrasco noted that since her dismissal was communicated to her, she has not received any calls from the Minister of José Antonio Kast.
«I am left without health insurance. That is ultimately what the minister is doing with this decision; it puts my life at risk,» stated the psychologist, hinting that she will not remain passive against what she considers an unjustified measure and is evaluating taking legal and administrative action.
