During a press conference held at the Congress in Valparaíso, the parliamentary group of the People’s Party (Partido de la Gente) unveiled their first legislative proposal: a total withdrawal of retirement funds for migrants.

According to the announcement, the initiative allows foreign nationals who have contributed to any pension fund (AFP) to withdraw their savings and transfer them to their home countries.

«With this, we aim to make a concrete and effective contribution to enabling as many migrants as possible to leave the country voluntarily, with full respect for human rights and current legislation,» explained Deputy Pamela Jiles.

The lawmaker detailed that this proposal «corrects existing legislation that we have thoroughly examined and found lacking.»
