Deputy Tello Contacts Audit Office Over Excel Sheet Ranking Public Works Officials by Political Views

Carolina Tello, a member of the Broad Front, has submitted a formal request to the Audit Office regarding the leak of an Excel sheet that politically ranks officials from the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) in the Coquimbo region, using terms like «leftist» and «disastrous,» along with suggesting replacements for those listed in these «categories.»

The legislator stated, «If the existence and use of such records is confirmed, we may be facing a situation that violates fundamental principles of the legal framework and public service.»

Deputy Tello highlighted that among these principles are «the right to equality before the law as established in Article 19 No.2 of the Political Constitution of the Republic; the principle of administrative integrity outlined in Article 8 of the same legal text; as well as the principles of merit, objectivity, and impartiality that should govern employment in the public sector, including hiring, performance evaluation, and job security.»

Consequently, in her correspondence, the Broad Front deputy has requested «information and/or actions» concerning this issue. «We will demand that these matters be investigated with the utmost rigor,» she affirmed.

«Public service cannot operate with ideological lists or labels assigned to individuals. Evaluations must be based on merit, performance, and compliance with the law, not on the political beliefs of the workers,» Deputy Carolina Tello asserted.
