Prosecutor Requests All Chats Involving Andrés Chadwick Amid Investigation into Ex-Prosecutor Guerra’s Hiring at U. San Sebastián

The investigative journalism outlet Ciper Chile reported that as part of the inquiry into former prosecutor Manuel Guerra’s hiring at Universidad San Sebastián, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has sought access to all chats from lawyer Luis Hermosilla that mention former Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick.

According to the aforementioned outlet, «after the court determined that Guerra coordinated with Chadwick and Hermosilla for his recruitment at Universidad San Sebastián (USS) and that this facilitated the liquidation of a ‘corrupt credit accumulated over five years’, the Public Prosecutor’s Office activated a series of actions.»

The report from Ciper further states, «this implies that, in the magistrate’s view, there is evidence suggesting that during the five years prior to his employment at USS, Guerra would have granted favors in the cases he oversaw as prosecutor, allegedly benefiting those close to Chadwick and Hermosilla.»

Among the actions initiated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office is a request to the court for information from Hermosilla’s phone, which is currently only in the hands of the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office.

«Prosecutor Mario Carrera asked the court for access to all mentions in the penalist’s cellphone linked to at least 10 people, three institutions, and four legal cases. Included in this list are former minister Andrés Chadwick, USS, and Guerra himself,» highlights Ciper, reminding that thus far, «the investigation only has the messages between Hermosilla and the ex-prosecutor.»
