UNICEF Reports One Child Killed Daily in Gaza Since October 2025 Ceasefire Agreement

A shocking and disturbing statistic was revealed by UNICEF spokesperson James Elder, who stated that Israel has killed one child per day in Gaza since the ceasefire was signed.

«Following another deadly night of clashes in Lebanon, aid agencies issued a new alert for Gaza, where 265 Palestinian children have been killed since a ceasefire was announced in October 2025,» noted a United Nations press release.

In this context, during a press conference for journalists in Geneva, broadcast via video from Amman, Elder detailed that «in a period supposedly defined by containment and protection, a child has been killed every day for over 8 months. This is an absurd and devastating figure.»

Children «were not killed in a war zone,» the humanitarian worker charged, «but in their homes, in schools, while playing football or fishing. They were shot, bombed, and struck by drone attacks.»

The UN emphasized that the child deaths are included among nearly 1,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza and over 3,100 injured since the ceasefire began, according to health authorities.

«They sneeze near the Orange Line and are very likely to be shot,» Elder stated, referring to the «continuous advance» of the so-called «Yellow» and «Orange» lines, occupation borders established by Israel.

The uncertainty of these shifting borders and «a total lack of accountability» are the reasons for such a high number of killings, with Israeli forces responsible for «the immense, immense majority — over 90%,» highlighted the UNICEF spokesperson.

It should also be noted that, according to the World Health Organization, no hospital is fully operational in Gaza, while clean water remains a daily uncertainty for 1.1 million children.

«I talk to mothers whose children scream because they have no clean water to wash themselves. Imagine a father unable to fix that, night after night. The scale of human suffering inflicted in Gaza, and allowed against Palestinian children, is almost unmatched in our lifetime,» warned Elder.
