Original article: Inversores estafados con la criptomoneda $Libra demandarán a Milei ante los tribunales de Argentina
Following the failure to reach an agreement during mandatory mediation, over 30 victims who lost more than $100 million in the fraudulent cryptocurrency $Libra will file a civil lawsuit for damages against the defendants in Argentina, including the country’s President, Javier Milei.
In an interview with Radio AM750, lawyer and representative of the defrauded investors, Nicolás Oszust, recalled that the Argentine leader promoted this «digital asset» on February 14, 2025, via his official accounts, inviting «savers and investors to buy it with the promise of directing the funds to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the country.»
According to international media reports, in addition to Milei, those facing fraud charges include the creator of &Libra, Hayden Davis, as well as Argentines Mauricio Novelli, Manuel Terrones Godoy, and María Pía Novelli, along with Singaporean entrepreneur Chyi Haur Peh.
Others implicated are the President’s sister and Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei; former Chief of Cabinet Manuel Adorni; his advisor Demian Reidel; the Chairman of the National Securities Commission (CNV), Roberto E. Silva; and CNV advisor and Novelli’s partner, Sergio Morales.
Lawyer Osutz asserts that there are «sufficient evidentiary elements» confirming the responsibility of all accused, detailing that the investigation revealed Novelli coordinated the meeting between Davis and Milei in the USA.
«Days prior, Davis transferred five million dollars to Novelli’s accounts in a financial cave in the municipality of Vicente López. Additionally, Novelli made repeated visits to the Head of State at the Quinta de Olivos,» the lawyer stated, suggesting that the $Libra scam is not an isolated incident but part of a structured program for committing crimes.
