Mexican Embassy in Chile and Chile-Mexico Integration Chamber Launch Groundbreaking Agenda to Connect Productive Capital to Regional Development

Mexican Ambassador to Chile, Laura Moreno, gathered 72 business leaders from the Chile-Mexico Integration Chamber (Cicmex) to outline a new investment phase with a strong regional focus.

The meeting, held at the official residence, celebrated the 195th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 27th anniversary of the Free Trade Agreement between both nations.

This public-private summit reaffirms Mexico’s position as a strategic trade partner for the national economy and marks the beginning of enhanced territorial coordination.

The gathering showcased the vigor of bilateral exchange, which currently exceeds 3.435 billion dollars annually, as it brought together high-level executives from leading Mexican corporations operating in the country.

Notable attendance included the 10 most impactful firms and institutions in the local market: FEMSA Salud, Cinépolis, Alsea, Farmacias de Similares, Laboratorios Sophia, Claro VTR, HSBC Bank, Sony, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Genomma Lab.

Thus, the private sector reaffirmed its active agenda to promote productive diversification beyond the Metropolitan Region.

Focus on Antofagasta and Los Lagos

During her intervention, the ambassador thanked Cicmex for its ongoing cooperation with social programs aimed at improving the living conditions of the resident Mexican community.

Economically, Moreno urged investors to enhance cooperation agendas and execute projects in various regions of Chile.

«Our commitment to Antofagasta and Los Lagos demonstrates Mexican capital’s interest in integrating into Chile’s deep development, creating value directly in these territories,» stated the diplomat, highlighting these two areas as priorities.

From the Mexican embassy, it was explained that this decentralization strategy aims to create cross-sector alliances to elevate trade relations to a new level.

«Mexican entrepreneurs aim to consolidate productive innovation ecosystems in the provinces by supporting genuine connections. The firms actively endorse the framework agreements of cooperation established between the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and regional educational institutions, such as the University of Los Lagos and the University of Antofagasta,» clarified representatives from the diplomatic mission.

These agreements, they added, «are strictly based on academic, scientific, and collaborative experience development, strengthening the ties built over more than a quarter of a century.»

To materialize these objectives, the Mexican embassy and Cicmex agreed to facilitate the necessary operational bridges between investors and regional authorities.

Both entities announced that they will form technical working groups next month (September) to coordinate the first business missions to the north and south regions, formally establishing local development as the new engine of the bilateral relationship between both countries.
