Temperatures in Texas, United States, could soar to 43 degrees Celsius as an intense wave of extreme heat keeps over 100 million people on high alert.

According to forecasts, temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius are expected in all states between Colorado and New York, with particular concern for the southern plains, the lower Mississippi Valley, and the entirety of Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, and North Carolina.

As reported by EFE, the National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that this heatwave has reached a «critical point,» while the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has noted that July was the hottest month ever recorded in the country.

Moreover, these high temperatures, combined with drought conditions, are contributing to the outbreak of numerous wildfires: over 3 million hectares have burned so far this year in the U.S., the highest figure in the last decade.

Recently, the NWS provided a series of recommendations to the public, starting with the advice to «avoid or limit outdoor activities during the afternoons and ensure proper hydration.»

It was also suggested to «have air conditioning or access cooling centers,» while emphasizing the importance of «paying special attention to vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbors during these high temperatures.»

Finally, the National Weather Service stressed that neither children nor pets should be left unattended inside vehicles, and for animals, it was reminded to provide «fresh water and shaded areas.»
