Original article: Vicepresidenta Fenats por recortes de Kast: «Lo que se ve es un privilegio de la minoría a costa de las mayorías»
In an interview with Radio Nuevo Mundo, Karen Palma, Vice President of Fenats Nacional and Vice President of Women at CUT, warned that the country is facing «a critical situation not only regarding unemployment but also a rise in the cost of living,» which she claimed is making it increasingly difficult for people and families to make ends meet.
According to Palma, the cuts implemented by Kast’s government clearly reflect class interests: «What we see is minority privilege at the expense of majorities, which is becoming more acute,» she stated, citing examples like the proposal to transfer childcare rights to unemployment insurance or the elimination of severance pay for years of service.
«It is evident that the government responds to a specific class. This does not mean lowering taxes; rather, all social policies shift the burden to employees while lightening the load on employers,» questioned the Fenats Vice President.
Regarding healthcare, Palma commented that «this has been a topic that has emerged as a primary need and concern for Chilean families, expectations that have been strained for decades and are now exacerbated by the proposed cuts in the 2027 budget.»
She recalled that healthcare cuts began in the first half of 2026.
«No matter how much the government claims that it is a 4.7% increase, the current budget is insufficient to meet the population’s needs and does not create the conditions to ensure certain healthcare services,» the leader warned.
