Chilean Officer Charged for Humiliating Student in Quellón High School Incident
The Quellón Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged a police officer from the sixth precinct in the area for unlawful coercion against a student at Rayen Mapu High School.
This case has been reported by both regional and national media. According to Radio Biobío, «The incident occurred on August 17 and is currently under investigation by the Police Investigations (PDI), under the direction of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.»
Felipe Rodríguez, the acting prosecutor in Quellón, confirmed to the press that «it was established that this police officer, during this procedure inside the classroom, ordered one of the students present, a minor, to approach him.»
«Immediately afterward, he instructed the student to lower his pants, revealing a pair of shorts underneath, and forced him to perform a squat in front of the entire class, creating a humiliating situation for the young man,» the prosecutor stated.
The prosecutor indicated that following the formal charges and considering the proportionality of the alleged actions, the court imposed preventive measures, including national restraint and a prohibition on approaching the victim while the investigation, set to last 90 days, is ongoing.
