Yungay Colors Market Celebrates First Anniversary with Spring Festival and Day of the Dead Tribute

On Saturday, October 31, the Yungay neighborhood will come alive with a vibrant display of colors, music, gastronomy, entrepreneurship, and community engagement during a special edition of the Yungay Colors Market, marking its first anniversary since its inception.

Driven by the Yungay District Guild Association, this initiative collaborates with the Santiago government via the Regional Development Corporation; the Metropolitan Regional Council (CORE); Metropolitan Corfo; the Municipality of Santiago; and Panadería San Camilo.

This partnership fosters a space that links local economic development with culture, heritage, and community life.

The Yungay Colors Market was established in 2025, attracting over 8,000 attendees, more than 100 local entrepreneurs, 90 artists and creators, and 15 cultural organizations from the neighborhood.

Previous editions have resulted in a remarkable 100% increase in daily sales for local businesses, according to a survey from the Yungay District Association and the Metropolitan Government.

For this anniversary edition, the market aims to draw 12,000 visitors, further solidifying itself as a vital platform for culture, entrepreneurship, tourism, and economic revitalization in the Yungay area.

Three Themes in One Day

The fifth edition of the market will incorporate three major themes celebrated in one day: the anniversary of the Yungay Colors Market, the arrival of spring, and the Day of the Dead, creating an event that highlights the identity, diversity, and cultural richness of the Yungay neighborhood.

«For this occasion, the event will expand its presence in public spaces, with two streets closed for community access: Compañía and Huérfanos, between Sotomayor and Herrera, transforming them into a large pedestrian and family-friendly promenade. Additionally, Cueto Street, between Portales and Huérfanos, home to the Novedades Theater, will feature an entertaining family programming,» noted the organizers.

During the event, visitors can enjoy a diverse range of local businesses, cuisine, music, culture, and artisanal products, all in a completely free and family-friendly environment.

«The Yungay Colors Market was born as a way to connect around neighborhood identity and life. Now, a year after that first experience, we want to celebrate by growing and bringing this festivity to more streets, with more entrepreneurs and more visitors,» emphasizes Harley Torres, president of the Yungay District Guild Association.

The incorporation of spring and Day of the Dead themes will also allow for the development of a visual and cultural proposal inspired by traditional celebrations of these dates, engaging with the neighborhood’s identity and the festive spirit of spring.

In this way, the Yungay Colors Market aims to be a grand civic celebration where entrepreneurship, gastronomy, music, culture, tourism, and heritage intertwine, strengthening Yungay’s character as one of Santiago’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
