Israeli Government Confirms Abducted Activists Transported to Israel, Allowed to Meet Consular Representatives

In a brief message shared on the social media accounts of its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Israeli government confirmed that the 430 individuals abducted from the Global Sumud Flotilla have been transported to Israel, where they will «be able to meet with their consular representatives.»

It is important to note that after being intercepted in international waters by Netanyahu’s military forces, the activists were forcibly moved to Israeli vessels located offshore. Among those captured were Chileans Claudio Caiozzi, Carolina Eltit, Víctor Chanfreau, and Ignacio Ladrón de Guevara, the latter being part of the Spanish delegation.

At that time, Global Sumud expressed growing concern for the well-being of the abducted individuals, citing Israel’s history of allegations related to torture, physical abuse, isolation, and mistreatment of Palestinian hostages and international activists showing solidarity with the Palestinian people.

This concern heightened following the announcement from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which claimed that the Global Sumud Flotilla had «once again shown to be nothing more than a public relations stunt serving Hamas.»

Additionally, in an unusual statement, Netanyahu’s government asserted that «Israel will continue to operate in full accordance with international law and will not permit any violation of the legally established naval blockade on Gaza.»
