Latin American nations are enhancing their focus on the informational agenda of BRICS while strengthening media integration within the group. The International Media Network TV BRICS and the Latin American Television Network (TAL), which represents public television channels across the macroregion, have reached agreements for content exchange.

The agreement was signed by TV BRICS General Director and Chief Editor Janna Tolstikova and TAL Executive Director Nicolás Schonfeld. As a result, the audience receiving materials from TV BRICS about BRICS developments and activities involving member states has increased by over 500 million people.

The media networks will collaborate to create an objective international agenda and strengthen humanitarian and economic cooperation among Global South countries. TV BRICS and TAL plan to showcase and promote each other’s content while engaging in joint projects in the field of mass communications.

«For TAL, this agreement with TV BRICS represents a significant opportunity to strengthen South-South cooperation in the audiovisual, cultural, and communicational fields, and to expand the presence of Latin American public media in new international circuits for content exchange and circulation. As a union of public and cultural media in Latin America, we understand that networking, sharing experiences, and dialogue between institutions are fundamental tools to bring our societies closer together, increase mutual understanding, and promote diverse perspectives on our territories. We value this connection as a framework for cooperation based on reciprocity, respect for cultural identities, and the potential to develop concrete projects that connect stories, audiences, and institutions in Latin America and the Global South. We are very excited about the prospect of a shared future,» said Nicolás Schonfeld, Executive Director and authorized representative of TAL.

The TAL media network is an association of public television channels in Latin America founded in 2003. It encompasses nearly 150 national, regional, parliamentary, university channels, and online platforms from 20 countries, with a total audience of over 540 million people. TAL focuses on political and social issues, aiming to strengthen cultural sovereignty and communicational integration among Latin American countries, increase audiovisual production, and develop humanitarian ties with other regions and countries worldwide.

Janna Tolstikova, General Director and Chief Editor of TV BRICS, emphasized that the collaboration between these two major media organizations is a testament to shared goals and editorial principles aimed at shaping an objective informational landscape and also reflects the integration potential of Latin America and the BRICS group.

«The interaction between TV BRICS, which unites partners from over 30 countries, and the TAL network, connecting television channels in Latin America, reflects a growing trend towards cooperation between BRICS and States in the region. Brazil is a founding member of BRICS, Bolivia and Cuba are official partners, and Colombia aspires to join the New Development Bank of the BRICS. The informational support that TV BRICS and TAL are prepared to provide will create a foundational basis for the development of international integration across various fields. Our media network’s operational principles, along with those of our Latin American partners, echo the positions of the BRICS: openness, trust-based relationships, respect for state sovereignty and national interests. Our alliance will prioritize individuals and society—through media, we aim to highlight approaches that encourage the exchange of experiences, collaboration, and joint development,» indicated Tolstikova.

In 2026, ahead of the FIFA World Cup, TV BRICS participated in the “Colors of Football” project organized by TAL.

In Latin America, the network collaborates with media outlets and public and governmental structures from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Chile, and Uruguay.

For instance, in June 2026, the Argentine socio-political television channel Canal 22 joined the content exchange through TV BRICS.
