Original article: Juzgado de Garantía de Angol dejó en libertad a sujeto formalizado por femicidio frustrado: Atacó su pareja con unas tijeras
The Angol Court has released an individual who was charged with attempted femicide after he assaulted his partner with punches and scissors, causing multiple injuries.
According to local media reports, the court imposed only minor protective measures, including a «ban on approaching the victim,» restrictions on contacting her via social media or other means, and a requirement to sign monthly with local police.
In statements reported by Radio Biobío, prosecutor Carla Rodríguez explained that «we requested preventive detention. However, our request was not granted, and the court set lighter measures.» As a result, they will now appeal to the Court of Appeals in Temuco.
Rodríguez detailed that the suspect «has a criminal record and must serve a sentence for the crime of robbery with violence as his parole has been revoked. Additionally, in June, he was reported for minor injuries related to domestic violence.»
According to the prosecution, the man is clearly «a danger to the victim and society’s safety,» an argument they will need to present before the Court of Appeals.
We will continue to provide updates.
