The controversy triggered by the video involving Ítalo Omegn, former legislative advisor to the Libertarian National Party (PNL) deputy Hans Marowsky, continues to create political fallout. This time, ex-deputy Hugo Gutiérrez has launched a strong offensive against the PNL following the release of a recording containing inappropriate comments about minors and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The case has already prompted a complaint from the National Autism Federation (Fenaut) to the Public Ministry and the dismissal of Omegna from his position.

In a post on X, Gutiérrez intensified the debate by stating: «Here are the ‘dignified’ children of Paul Schäfer @Partido_NL». He added in the same post: «The crime of promoting or inciting pedophilia must be criminalized; otherwise, impunity will continue». With this, he not only directed harsh criticism at the PNL but also initiated a discussion about the need to strengthen criminal legislation regarding such behaviors.

Hugo Gutiérrez vs PNL: The Controversy Over Ítalo Omegna’s Video Escalates

The ex-parliamentarian’s statements come after a video went viral over the weekend in which Ítalo Omegna, then an advisor to Deputy Marowsky, makes a series of sexual remarks while giving gifts to another individual. The footage includes references to minors and children with ASD, provoking a wave of criticism from various sectors.

The public pressure had immediate consequences. Omegna submitted his resignation as legislative advisor to Deputy Marowsky, while the Mises Institute Cono Sur announced the start of proceedings to sever ties with him as director of Outreach.

However, the repercussions extended beyond the political arena. The National Autism Federation (Fenaut) filed a complaint with the Public Ministry, arguing that the video
trivializes sexual violence against children and adolescents, in addition to affecting the dignity of autistic individuals through the use of stereotypes and discriminatory language.

In this context, Gutiérrez’s comments add a new dimension to the controversy. Besides the comparison to Paul Schäfer, the ex-deputy highlighted a legislative aspect that needs attention: the introduction of a specific crime to penalize the promotion or incitement to pedophilia, arguing that the absence of such a legal framework enables impunity in relation to these types of behaviors.
