In a public statement, the Confederation of the Port Union of Chile accused the government of Kast of failing to uphold commitments made to the organization.

The union expressed that «after repeated attempts to meet with the current Central Government, we have not received any response or willingness for dialogue.»

«This situation is unacceptable, considering that we represent the largest organization of port workers in the country. There have been no advancements or solutions to the deep dissatisfaction, distrust, and displeasure towards the current government’s attitude,» the statement highlighted.

Consequently, the workers added, «given this scenario of unfulfilled commitments with our organization, we call on our members to remain in a state of alert for a potential national port strike.»
