The formal hearing for Chillán Viejo Mayor, Jorge del Pozo Pastene (Independent, 54 years old), has been scheduled for July 14 at the Chillán Guarantee Court. He will be charged with the alleged crimes of sexual abuse and rape.
According to regional and national media outlets such as Radio Biobío, the Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to indict the local leader following two years of investigations, with the crimes being reported by former municipal employees.
Additionally, a report from Chilevisión noted that this case follows an incident from October 2024, when just days after being reelected as mayor, he was arrested following a domestic violence (DV) complaint against him.
