Original article: Canciller cubano apunta contra la prensa estadounidense: acusa “guerra psicológica” y fabricación de pretextos contra la isla
Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla has strongly criticized U.S. media outlets, accusing them of being active participants in a campaign of aggression orchestrated from Washington that transcends mere «psychological warfare».
In a message posted on his X account, the Cuban diplomat warned that the U.S. government, relying on supposed intelligence leaks, is deliberately trying to gauge American public opinion to pave the way for a military adventure he deemed unjustified, potentially leading to bloodshed, and one lacking credible justification.
Rodríguez Parrilla emphasized that Cuba does not pose a real threat to U.S. security, questioning ironically how a small Caribbean nation could be a danger to the world’s greatest military and nuclear power, a fact that he stated U.S. intelligence agencies fully understand.
The Cuban foreign minister directed particularly harsh criticisms at the political landscape of southern Florida, where he denounced that the fabrication of false pretexts against Cuba has become a lucrative business for a group of discredited and corrupt politicians.
Rodríguez Parrilla asserted that these sectors continue to profit by exploiting the suffering of the Cuban people, creating false narratives that serve as fuel for escalating hostility against the island.
«They continue to profit from the suffering of the Cuban people,» the Cuban diplomat stressed.
In light of this media offensive, Rodríguez Parrilla condemned what he termed a «toxic campaign surrounding July 11, 2026», asserting that the events of that date were neither spontaneous nor organically arising from within the island.
The foreign minister described the maneuver as a foreign interference operation that was «announced, prepared, and amplified since June by digital media, tech platforms, and influencers» predominantly based in the United States.
Rodríguez Parrilla emphasized that this strategy revealed a coordination and external planning, dismantling any attempt to present the unrest as an authentic expression of popular discontent in Cuba.
Media Campaign Aims to Create a Climate of Chaos in Cuba
To support his claims, the foreign minister cited data from the Media Observatory of Cubadebate, which revealed an overwhelming disparity in the origin of messages related to those events: while 85.9% of posts were generated from the United States, only 0.7% came from Cuba.
According to Rodríguez Parrilla, this statistic debunks the narrative of a supposed internal rebellion and confirms the existence of a campaign orchestrated from abroad. He explained that the political objective of this operation was to «create a climate of chaos, stimulate new unrest, erode confidence in institutions, and fabricate a pretext for further pressure against the country, including military intervention threats and attempts to subvert Cuba’s constitutional order.
The head of Cuban diplomacy was adamant in stating that what occurred on social media was not a spontaneous conversation but rather an organized campaign from abroad that exploits the real difficulties faced by the Cuban people, turning them into a tool of political destabilization.
