On Monday, January 5th, Vice President Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as the Acting President of Venezuela, following the reported abduction of current President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. military forces.

«I come with pain, but I must also say I come with honor. I swear, in the name of all Venezuelans, by our liberator father Simón Bolívar, who is the guide and historical beacon for Venezuela’s future, whose liberating blood flows through the veins of every Venezuelan,» Delcy Rodríguez declared during her inauguration as President.

Rodríguez’s swearing-in took place after the installation of Venezuela’s National Assembly, which began a new legislative constitutional period (2026-2031) and the annual ordinary sessions for 2026-2027.

According to El Ciudadano, by a decisive majority, Jorge Rodríguez was re-elected as president of the National Assembly, a position he has held since January 5, 2021. Read the full story below:
