Deputy Tello Calls for Government Response to Lack of Rainfall Prevention Measures Ahead of Forecasted Downpours

Deputy and Chair of the Frente Amplio parliamentary bloc, Carolina Tello, formally requested a government statement regarding what she described as a «lack of sufficient preventive measures» in anticipation of the heavy rains expected in the central-northern regions of Chile over the coming days.

«Meetings come and go. Monitoring, preventive emergencies. However, there are still not enough and timely preventive measures to address the frontal system that will affect our region (Coquimbo) in just a few hours,» the legislator expressed.

«All stations indicate the same, yet the government has yet to implement collection centers, aid, mitigation measures, or prepare emergency response teams. There is a noticeable absence of regional authorities on the ground to prepare for a potential disaster. This is why this project for an agreement was sent,» Deputy Tello reported.

The aim is to «demand from President Kast’s government that preventive and containment measures are established regarding the front that is set to arrive starting Thursday of this week, affecting several regions.» Review the agreement project HERE

Notices for Fishing Landing Sites

In addition, Deputy Carolina Tello also requested – through an official letter directed to the Ministry of Public Works and the Regional Presidential Delegate of Coquimbo – that specific measures be taken for the fishing landing sites and rural areas of the region.
