President Kast’s cabinet is facing its worst digital perception scenario since the start of the administration, as reported on Wednesday, October 14, by the SOUL agency through a new online survey.

In its seventh survey, covering the period from September 7 to October 6, 68% of the opinions expressed were negative compared to 32% positive, marking the lowest level of support recorded in seven months.

The study counted 384,304 mentions, including 4,303 original posts and 380,001 replies and shared contents.

Furthermore, it achieved 47,560,925 views and 2,361,744 interactions in a discussion dominated by economic adjustments, political controversies, and statements from authorities.

«The 2027 Budget was the primary trigger of the rejection, accounting for 12.1% of the conversation and 80% of negative mentions among those expressing an opinion,» stated SOUL Agency.

Cuts in education, culture, and social programs, along with statements from ministers defending these measures, also shaped the digital debate during this period.

«Sustained Deterioration«

The report emphasizes that «the evolution of the measurements reflects a sustained deterioration in the government’s digital perception. In April, the cabinet had 53% positive mentions, which fell to 43% in May and remained below 50% in the following months, except for a temporary recovery to 49% in the fifth measurement.»

In the most recent period, the survey indicates that support dropped to 32%, eight percentage points lower than the previous measurement. As a result, rejection surpasses support by 36 points, solidifying the most unfavorable scenario in the series.

Francisco Undurraga, Minister of Cultures, faces the highest rejection, with 95.9% of negative mentions. His comments on rodeo and budget cuts to his ministry attracted significant criticism.

He is followed by Judith Marín (Women and Gender Equity), with 91.4% rejection, primarily due to the closure of Prodemu, and María Paz Arzola (Education), with 89.4%, impacted by the elimination of the «I Choose My PC» program.

Also notable are Jorge Quiroz (Treasury), with 88.6% negative mentions, and Tomás Rau (Labor), with 87.7%.

Regarding the President, SOUL’s survey places him as the most mentioned figure in the cabinet, with 565 original posts, 135,963 replies, and 17.2 million views.

«Among the 330 mentions that expressed an opinion about the President, 44.5% were positive and 55.5% negative, placing him sixth in the ranking of 23 authorities,» notes the report, detailing that «his intervention before the United Nations, joining the Shield of the Americas, and the presentation of the 2027 Budget in a national address stirred up criticism.»

This result additionally maintains the President below 50% of positive mentions for the second consecutive period after achieving 58% during the fifth measurement.

Budget and Employment Dominate the Criticism

Besides the 2027 Budget, foreign policy represented 11.6% of the conversation, with 62% negative mentions. Employment, unemployment, and discussions regarding nursery provisions concentrated 8.6% of mentions, with a 77% rejection rate.

Public safety also featured prominently, particularly concerning the murders of two Carabinero officials and the withdrawal of a constitutional reform by the government, registering 61% negative mentions. In contrast, National Holidays was the best-rated topic, with 70% positive mentions.

One of the main conclusions of the study is the disparity between the evaluation of management and controversies. While mentions related to public policies recorded an 87% positive perception, those linked to controversies reached a 97% rejection rate.

SOUL’s measurement | Communication and Impact considers the President and 22 ministers, analyzing posts from Twitter/X, TikTok, and digital media. The thematic and sentiment classification is conducted through artificial intelligence and verification processes. The perception percentages correspond exclusively to mentions expressing an opinion.
