ESPANORAMAS Spanish Film Showcase Brings 2025 Goya Winners to Chile and Honors Marisa Paredes

The third ESPANORAMAS Spanish Film Showcase runs from 10 October to 3 November at Centro Arte Alameda  Sala CEINA in Santiago, featuring four winners from the 2025 Goya Awards and a six-film tribute to the late screen icon Marisa Paredes (1946024).

Centro Arte Alameda – Sala CEINA will host the third edition of the Spanish Film Showcase / ESPANORAMAS from 10 October to 3 November, opening a window onto the best of contemporary Spanish cinema with support from the Spanish Film Academy, the Centro Cultural de Espaf1a in Santiago of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and the Embassy of Spain in Chile.

In all, the program will screen four films that won at the most recent Goya Awards, held in February 2025, alongside six landmark titles starring the acclaimed actress Marisa Paredes (1946024, pictured on the cover), a towering figure of Spanish cinema who died last December at the age of 78.

The showcase coincides with Spanish Cinema Day and will open with 201cLa casa en llamas201d (2024), directed by Dani de la Orden and winner of the Goya for Best Original Screenplay, on 10 October at 6:30 p.m.

The lineup also features 201cLa virgen roja201d (2024) by director Paula Ortiz, winner of the Goya for Best Production Design and Best Costume Design; 201cSegundo premio201d (2024) by Isaki Lacuesta and Pol Rodredguez, which earned the Goya for Best Director; and 201cMariposas negras201d (2024) by David Baute, awarded Best Animated Feature.

201cLa virgen roja201d by Paula Ortiz: A thriller that delves into the life, work, and death of Spanish revolutionary Hildegart Rodredguez.

The program will also honor Marisa Paredes, whose career spanned more than five decades across film, theater, and television, making her a touchstone of Spain2019s screen industry. A feminist and a staunch defender of culture and other just causes, she served as president of the Spanish Film Academy from 2000 to 2003 and was recognized in 2018 with the Honorary Goya.

The Spanish Film Showcase / ESPANORAMAS aims to strengthen ties between Chilean audiences and Spanish cinema and to deepen cultural exchange between Spain and Chile2014 an effort energized in 2023 by the International Film and Audiovisual Co-Production Agreement, which promotes collaboration, access to resources, and the international reach of features and series from both countries.

Screenings are free until capacity is reached, but advance registration is required via PASSLINE.
