Evo Morales Claims US Ordered Military Operation Against Him Amid Accusations of Defamation

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales alleged on Friday, May 15, that the United States directed his home government, led by Rodrigo Paz, to «execute a military operation, supported by the DEA and the US Southern Command, to stop or kill me.»

In a social media post, Morales accused notable figures of instigating this action, including former government minister Carlos ‘Zorro’ Sánchez Berzaín, who fled to Miami following the October Massacre in 2003, and Vice Minister of Social Defense, Ernesto Justiniano, currently in Washington.

«Before this,» the ex-president added, «the government has launched an intense campaign of defamation, insults, and baseless accusations, with the assistance of foreign experts in dirty war and fake news, such as the Argentine Fernando Cerimedo, sent to Bolivia by the right-wing Javier Milei, whose dirty operations have already been exposed by honest Bolivian journalists.»

In this context, Evo Morales detailed that the Ninth Army Division is currently stationed in Bolivia’s Tropic region, under the command of Colonel Franz Andrade Loza, who he claimed was promised promotion to general and command of the armed forces if he were to eliminate Morales.

Furthermore, the ex-head of state noted that the area also includes the F-10 unit reporting to the Chief of the Armed Forces (General Víctor Hugo Balderrama), led by Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Giménez Ortuño, a former aide to Defense Minister Fernando López of Jeanine Añez’s regime; the CITE (Paratrooper Military Unit) commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Santiestevan, who was imprisoned for the massacres committed by Añez’s government in Sacaba and Senkata; and the CIE 298 (Army Intelligence Company), whose members trained in Cotapachi to carry out operations in the Tropic.

Additionally, he stated that this contingent includes «snipers from the F-10 of the Ranger Regiment of Challapata,» and from the Ingavi VII Sajama Battalion, «dozens of soldiers, including senior colonels, captains, lieutenants, and non-commissioned officers, were dispatched.»

«Bolivian military personnel will be under the command of American marines and Paraguayan DEA agents, who do not care about massacring brothers and sisters living in the Tropic,» Morales warned.
