Palestinian Education Minister, Amjad Barham, revealed that more than 720,000 Palestinian children have been denied access to basic education due to ongoing bombings by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip, where over 90% of schools and 82% of universities have been destroyed to date.

Barham shared this information during a conference on Palestinian childhood held in Tunis by the Arab League Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO).

In his address, the minister emphasized the severe educational crisis faced by Palestinian children, particularly in Gaza, denouncing that daily, thousands of Israeli military checkpoints continue to restrict the movement of Palestinian students.

Meanwhile, ALECSO’s Director General, Mohamed Ould Amar, described the need for regional cooperation in this area as «urgent» and announced that his organization would «establish a joint Arab action plan with emergency protection mechanisms.»
