«We Won’t Be the Generation That Allows Fascism to Prevail Over the Cuban People» — with this powerful statement, over 8,800 intellectuals and artists have raised their voices against the blockade imposed by Washington on Havana, amidst the ongoing debate at the United Nations calling for the immediate end to this economically suffocating policy.

The digital platform www.solidaridadsinbloqueo.org has become the epicenter of this international mobilization, where not only the signatures of creators and thinkers are recorded, but also over 560 organizations from at least 58 countries have backed the document titled «No to the Aggression Against Cuba. International Manifesto Against the Advance of Fascism in Latin America».

The text, circulated on social media and academic spaces, dissects the aggressive escalation of the administration led by Donald Trump, who has labeled Cuba as an «extraordinary and unusual threat» to U.S. national security, while unfoundedly accusing it of harboring terrorist organizations and acquiring offensive weapons.

The document meticulously recounts how the blockade is not a recent coercive measure, but rather a continuation of aggression that has persisted for over two centuries. The text notes, «On June 23, 1783, John Adams, the second president of the nascent nation, wrote to Robert Livingston about his intention to seize the Island from the Spanish crown.»

By 1823, the doctrine of «ripe fruit» proclaimed that Cuba’s separation from Spain was the inevitable prelude to its annexation by the United States. This suggests a striking similarity between the late 19th-century plans and the current strategies being crafted in Washington against the so-called «Pearl of the Antilles.»

«Cuba Proves That Tenacity Can Uphold Independence and Sovereignty Against Imperialism»

The manifesto details how this year has seen an intensification of aggression, as the economic sabotage of 67 years has been compounded by a total blockade on fuel imports, pressure for third-party companies to abandon their businesses in the Island, and a media offensive fabricating lies against the Cuban people and government.

«Cuba has received only one oil tanker in six months and cannot conduct financial transactions,” states the declaration, while airlines, shipping companies, and hotel management firms have been forced to exit the country.

The text does not hesitate to label these actions as genocidal due to their direct impacts on the population, pointing to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the main sponsor of anti-Cuban hatred from Washington, to the extent of pushing for military aggression.

«Cuba is proof that tenacity can uphold independence and sovereignty against imperialism», the declaration continues, underscoring that the Cuban example shows that a path of self-determination can guarantee education, health, culture, and sports as fundamental rights.

In conclusion, the signatories declare: «We won’t be the generation that allows fascism to dominate the Cuban people».

Support extends beyond borders. Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Foreign Minister, thanked over 200 French personalities — parliamentarians, MEPs, mayors, trade unionists, young leaders, intellectuals, artists, and academics — who signed the Call for Peace in Cuba and the Caribbean, an initiative of the Movement for Peace in France calling for the lifting of the energy blockade and demanding respect for International Law against the executive orders of January 29 and May 1, 2026.

Additionally, 41 Belgian artists, doctors, academics, and politicians have joined the denunciation against the suffocating policy orchestrated from the White House, demonstrating that solidarity with Cuba is a global movement that continues unabated.
