The debate hosted by the Chilean Association of Broadcasters (ARCHI) clarified a significant point in the political landscape: Jeannette Jara showcased her strongest performance since the start of her presidential campaign. Political analyst Mauricio Morales emphasized on Meganoticias that Jara’s performance was markedly superior to that of far-right candidate José Antonio Kast.

According to Morales, Jara’s performance represents a turning point. “This has been Jeannette Jara’s best debate as a candidate. It was a disadvantageous debate for José Antonio Kast,” he stated, highlighting that the Republican candidate arrived unprepared to answer fundamental questions about integrity, the economy, and his government program.

The analyst further noted that Kast “debated on topics he was not adequately prepared for. This allowed Jeannette Jara to fully utilize her skills.” Responses on social media were even more critical; users and experts concurred on the lack of clarity and depth in the former deputy’s answers, as he repeatedly chose to attack the government instead of elucidating his own proposals.

With the second round of voting on December 14 approaching, the Metropolitan Region emerges as a pivotal area that could sway the election outcome. In the first round, Jara won in nearly all communes of the region, except for Lo Barnechea, a result that positions her competitively for the final leg of the campaign.

With a debate that bolstered her public image and a performance that even some conservative voices have acknowledged, the candidate enters the final stretch with renewed political momentum, while Kast faces internal and external critiques over the lack of substance in his presentation.
