On Saturday, June 6th, at 11:00 AM, the launch of the book «The Voice of Teachers in Chile: Proposals to Combat the Decline of Chilean Education» will take place at the Museum of Education (Compañía de Jesus 3150, Santiago).

The event is organized by Pueblo Docente and will feature participation from Leonora Reyes, a historian at the University of Chile and researcher on the teachers’ movement; Miguel Caro, Doctor of Education and academic at the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences; and Andrés Pérez, a member of Pueblo Docente and union leader from the Talagante community.

According to the review of this work, «This book is the result of years of organization and teacher discussion, built from the very experience of classrooms.» It also emphasizes that the book’s aim «is not only to describe how the neoliberal model and the education market undermine our work but also to contribute to strengthening the teachers’ movement.»

The publication states that this is achieved by providing «a set of contents, proposals, and demands to address the abandonment that education is suffering.»

«The Voice of Teachers in Chile is a tool for struggle to achieve the dignity of educators,» affirmed members of Pueblo Docente, who, while inviting the community to attend this launch, announced that attendees will be able to take home a copy of the book.
