The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Mojtaba Khamenei, emphasized the independence of the Persian Gulf from external interference and destabilizing attempts by the United States (U.S.), while also asserting Iran’s sovereignty over the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Khamenei argued that currently, the presence of Washington in the region serves as a major source of insecurity, while the Persian nation stands as a guarantor of security in these vital waters for global energy trade.
He stated that the Islamic Revolution marked a historic turning point in the struggle for Gulf independence, breaking decades of foreign interference and putting the fate of the region back into the hands of its own peoples.
U.S. Failure Opens New Chapter for the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz
He highlighted that «two months following the greatest invasion and aggression by the world’s tyrants in the region, and after the resounding failure of the United States in its plans, a new chapter for the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is being written.
Khamenei noted that in the past sixty days, the people of the region have witnessed «the examples of steadfastness, vigilance, and heroism from the brave members of the Navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with the courage and bravery of the people and youth of southern Iran, rejecting foreign domination.
According to the Iranian leader, «the fictitious bases of the United States do not even have the capacity to ensure their own security, let alone that of their local dependents and admirers.»
In a message shared on National Persian Gulf Day, Khamenei noted that the 90 million citizens of Iran today utilize all their capabilities for the defense of the homeland, protecting national resources with the same determination as they guard their land and air borders.
«No Place for Ambitious Foreigners Except at the Bottom of the Gulf»
Regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz, he stressed that the implementation of new legal standards and administrative practices in this maritime passage, through which 20% of the oil and liquefied gas traded globally flows, «will eliminate abuses from hostile enemies.»
The Ayatollah underscored that these measures will put an end to historical violations committed by foreign powers in the area, ensuring that practical control of the waterway benefits the nations of the region collectively, leading to economic prosperity and progress.
In this regard, the Iranian leader recalled that the greed of European and American hegemonic powers over Hormuz has been a constant throughout history, although he predicted a future only bright and prosperous with the complete departure of foreign forces.
«Our destiny is singular, and there is no place for ambitious foreigners except at the bottom of the Gulf,» Khamenei concluded, as reported by the network Al Mayadeen.
