The Montevideo Sports Club in the commune of Olmué, Valparaíso region, has issued a public statement that counters the account provided by Javier Olivares regarding an incident that occurred during the early hours of last Sunday at an anniversary celebration. The deputy from the PDG alleged that he was assaulted by one of the attendees.

The amateur football club denied any political slogans being present during the altercation and asserted that the legislator displayed aggressive behavior.

In their statement, the club declared, «We categorically reject any manifestation of violence, regardless of its origin, form, or circumstance.»

They noted that during the club’s 53rd anniversary celebration, attended by members, players, and families, «regrettable events occurred involving Deputy Javier Olivares, who attended the event on his own initiative, without being an official guest.»

They recalled that Olivares entered the venue around 12:27 AM on Sunday, May 10—not at 2:25 AM as the legislator claimed—»exhibiting a festive and very extroverted demeanor, accompanied by a team recording various moments of the day.»

Olivares «was under the influence of alcohol»

They suggested that based on his «behavior, expressions, and conduct during the event, it is presumed that the deputy was under the influence of alcohol

According to the club’s account, the conflict arose after an exchange between Olivares and a female attendee, to whom the deputy subsequently directed offensive remarks and insults, prompting a reaction from her spouse, who struck him in the face.

Furthermore, the institution categorically dismissed the idea that the argument had any political component, contrasting it with the legislator’s claim that the assailant had shouted, «the left always lives on.”

«There was no expression of a political nature,” they emphasized.

The statement also recalled that Javier Olivares allegedly reacted violently after being struck.

«Following this, the legislator responded aggressively, urging that the confrontation continue outside the venue, which contributed to escalating the conflict,» they stated.

Additionally, they asserted that the person who struck Olivares was also subjected to physical assaults by the deputy himself and members of his team, who reportedly punched and kicked him repeatedly as he tried to leave the venue.

A brother of the victim intervened to defend him, which sparked a brawl between the two parties.

«According to reports, these incidents were neither reported nor medically verified by the affected individual, due to fear of being arrested in the context of the events that occurred that morning,» they noted, indicating that police personnel from Carabineros de Chile arrived to conduct the necessary proceedings and gather details about what happened.

In conclusion, the club reiterated its absolute rejection of the physical assault on Olivares, as well as the threats and subsequent statements made by the deputy against our club and its members, as these only exacerbate tensions and harm the social, community, and sporting work that our organization has developed for over five decades.

Club President: «No Political Slogans Were Shouted»

In conjunction with the statement, the president of the Montevideo Sports Club of Olmué, Claudio Gutiérrez, disputed the version provided by the deputy regarding the alleged political slogans and motivations during the confrontation.

«He says he was assaulted and that political slogans were shouted against him, but that is false. Political slogans were never shouted,» he asserted in an interview with Radio ADN.

“There is nothing political. It was a fight between them. The deputy and his advisor were attacking the young man who had struck him inside. He himself challenged him to fight outside,” he emphasized.

According to Gutiérrez, Olivares is poorly advised.

«He also claimed that this was an ambush, something premeditated; that’s what he said on social media and he has been talking nonsense to distract from what he did,» he stated.

He also criticized that, after the incident, the deputy attempted to harm the club’s reputation. “Later he told his advisor: ‘We won’t give these guys anything.’ That’s what he said. ‘Erase all the support; we’re not giving these guys anything’,” he recounted.

In his statements, he criticized the failure of Carabineros to conduct an alcohol test on the deputy and lambasted the executive committee of Renovación Nacional, his political party, for supporting the deputy’s narrative without understanding how events transpired.
