Investigative outlet Contrapoder reported that Arturo Urrutia, a former Carabineros officer and the current Security Director in the municipality led by Mayor Mario Desbordes (RN), collected CLP 16,304,402 in overtime alone between January and August 2025.
The figures were obtained from the Municipality of Santiagos Active Transparency portal. The outlet noted that this follows the case of Deputy Eduardo Dur e1n 19s (RN) wife, Marjorie V e1squez, who has accrued CLP 8,144,987 in less than a year for the same budget line.
In that vein, in remarks to Contrapoder, council member Camila Davagnino alleged that Mayor Desbordes "has done nothing but repay political favors, hiring Republican Party operatives who in some cases aren 19t even working their scheduled shifts or fulfilling their work hours."
"Or as in the case of Marjorie V e1zquez, along with other municipal directors (like Urrutia) who earn millions of pesos in overtime 97which we hope the Comptroller General 19s Office will be able to verify," the council member added.
