Original article: Grave: Revelan que investigación por incendio en U. San Sebastián durante el Estallido «se frenó» cuando aparecieron carabineros infiltrados
A report by Reportea revealed on Monday, October 19, that the investigation into the fire that affected the University San Sebastián during the 2019 protests «stalled» when two infiltrated Carabineros appeared on the scene.
«The criminal case concerning the fire at the Bellavista campus of the University San Sebastián, which occurred in December 2019, identified two plainclothes Carabineros within the establishment at the time of the incident,» the Reportea publication states.
According to the investigative report, «the university’s security director was the first to identify them using surveillance footage and reported his findings to the PDI. However, the testimony was not included in the case file.»
The report also indicates that records show the prosecutor’s office requested information about these officials, «but the response halted progress.»
«The Ministry of the Interior, led by Rodrigo Delgado, rejected the request, arguing that, according to the law regulating the State Intelligence System, this was classified information. The case was closed without any accused parties,» the note adds.
Regarding the involved officials from the Carabineros Intelligence Directorate, the journalistic investigation notes that «they are involved in other incidents that occurred during that period as infiltrated police.»
