Tricel Responds Firmly to Macarena Santelices’ Campaign Spending Rejection: «Conspires Against Transparency»

A report by Ciper Chile has uncovered a stern response from the Electoral Qualifying Tribunal (Tricel) reaffirming its rejection of the campaign expenses submitted by Republican Party deputy Macarena Santelices for the 2024 Metropolitan Regional Government elections.

It should be noted that Servel previously challenged Santelices’ total campaign expenses of $760 million, which, according to Ciper, was partly due to the candidate requesting reimbursement for a $160 million invoice issued by Felipe ‘El Yeti’ Costabal’s company, a key figure behind José Antonio Kast’s campaigns and the current director of Secom.

«The day after the election, Costabal’s company canceled that invoice with the SII. Tricel deemed this action as one that «conspires against transparency,» states the Ciper report.

Moreover, the publication highlights that The 975 SpA agency «had issued two invoices, one for $17,850,000, which was paid, and another for $160,650,000, for which reimbursement was requested. The latter was rejected by the agency for not having met the minimum standards for the occurrence of this expense.» After consulting with the SII, campaign auditors found that the invoice had been canceled, making the reimbursement request inconsistent.

In addition to this, several other irregularities were detailed by Tricel. Read the full report from Ciper HERE
