Teatro ICTUS Launches New Stand-Up Comedy Series with La Fuente Lastarria Featuring Sergio Freire

This year, Teatro ICTUS is launching a new Stand-Up Comedy series in collaboration with La Fuente Lastarria, aimed at enhancing the cultural and culinary appeal of the historic neighborhood it is located in. The opening performance will feature Sergio Freire, one of Chile’s leading comedic talents.

Freire is an actor, comedian, and screenwriter, widely recognized in the Chilean Stand-Up Comedy scene. He gained fame through his appearances on the SCA program on Vía X and El Club de la Comedia on Chilevisión.

In 2018 and 2024, he participated in the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile, winning both prestigious awards: the silver and gold seagulls.

“Performing in this theater is a historic moment for me, and I am very happy. I can feel the essence of comedy in this space, and I will draw inspiration from all the greats like Delfina Guzmán and Nissim Sharim, who contributed to the early comedy shows in Chile, such as La Manivela. Teatro ICTUS is one of the oldest theater groups that has made a tremendous national impact, and I am thrilled to offer an incredible and intimate night,” stated Comedian Freire.

Physical Tickets

To promote the culture and gastronomy of a historic neighborhood like Lastarria, La Fuente will sell physical tickets on-site so audiences can enjoy the performance at Teatro ICTUS and finish their evening there.

“Stand-Up is a highly significant genre today and is closely tied to the atmosphere of bars. It’s wonderful to have forged this partnership to fulfill the needs of the audience, the neighborhood, and comedy all together. There’s no doubt it will be a remarkable experience and a great contribution,” highlighted Patricio Canobra, the bar owner.

Regarding the opening of Stand-Up this year, Paula Sharim, director of ICTUS, commented, “Humor and shows that allow people to laugh at themselves are in high demand today; they provide a moment of relaxation. I believe Teatro ICTUS also has a mission to create moments of leisure. We are open to all genres because it is important to expand our horizons, open the doors, and give comedians space for more intimate performances.”
