«Materia Impresa» Unites Publishers and Graphic Artists from Chile and Around the World at MAC Parque Forestal

Months of preparation and networking are finally coming to fruition for a group of artists and cultural managers as nearly 100 printed art projects will fill the Museum of Contemporary Art at Parque Forestal for the «Materia Impresa» fair, taking place from October 2 to 4, 2026.

Supported by the National Fondart’s line for organizing exhibitions, fairs, and meetings, «Materia Impresa» will gather a national and international community that creates books, fanzines, archives, graphic experiments, rare and hybrid publications, personal or collective works, prints, and various other formats and media—publications that arise without authorization; books that seek no validation; tests, mistakes, and obsessions.

As the organizers emphasize, the event aims to «celebrate with a crowd the return of major editorial art gatherings to Santiago, particularly at MAC, which hosted us for the first time 10 years ago.»

Daniel Cruz, the museum’s director, stated, «For MAC, participating in this international gathering reinforces the role of publications and editorial works as significant elements in generating sensitive knowledge within the broad context of creative practices.»

«Independent publications are essential in exploring the limits of human expression and underscore the collaborative spirit present in every publication,» Cruz added.

National and International Projects

A total of nearly 100 editorial projects will participate after the application period closed in July. Among these, 28 are from abroad, specifically from Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, and Italy. 

Regarding this exchange of experiences, the event organizers stated, «It seems crucial to us to include diverse projects in terms of their content and territories, both local and from other regions of Chile; we are open to inviting artists and friends from other parts of the world whose work resonates with our vision.»

Other Activities

Alongside the exhibition of artists and graphic creators, the gathering will feature a rich schedule of public activities, including exhibitions, performances, and activations both within MAC and in the surrounding Bellas Artes neighborhood and other cultural spaces. This includes art galleries, creative workshops, public interventions near the museum, and a celebration at a historic bar in downtown Santiago.

Furthermore, this fourth iteration of «Materia Impresa» extends its presence beyond the lobby of MAC, incorporating Room 5 of the museum as a new exhibition space where an open workshop on graphic trades will take place, alongside the editorial project «SE IMPRIME» and the «Biblioteca de Anomalías» from «Esto es un Libro» (MX).
