A recent report by the Latin American Strategic Center for Geopolitics (Celag) reveals that Argentina currently holds the record for the lowest wages in Latin America, marking a decline described as «historic.»
This information was highlighted by the Chilean newspaper Página 12, which detailed that «as of September 2025, the real minimum wage fell below the levels of 2001, prior to the collapse of the convertibility plan.»
As of November 2025, Argentina’s minimum wage stands at just 225 dollars, significantly trailing behind Costa Rica, which ranks first with 729 dollars, followed by Uruguay (593 dollars), Chile (567 dollars), Ecuador (470 dollars), and Mexico (463 dollars).
