The crisis within the Ministry of Security continues as President José Antonio Kast accepted the resignations of two undersecretaries, marking a significant shake-up in leadership just weeks after the new minister took charge.

The Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) has recommended the approval of a contentious rare earth extraction project proposed by Aclara Resources in Penco-Lirquén, prompting local communities to organize a march in protest against the multinational mining company.

Former Security Minister Luis Cordero strongly rebuts José Antonio Kast's claims of rising security indices during Gabriel Boric's presidency, stating that the facts contradict the President and highlighting a lack of accurate information available to him.

The response to the Public Accountability report also came from the streets: social, student, feminist, and human rights organizations marched against cuts and Kast's megareform. The protest advanced along the Alameda toward La Moneda, until being repressed by police.

The forum featured participation from political figures and social leaders. Senator Fabiola Campillai stated that in Kast's Public Account, "we could hear the discourse of a President who in social matters only knows how to conjugate two verbs: to restrict and to punish," further questioning the government for having "provoked and deepened the rise in the cost of living." "The economic suffering of the people is collateral damage that does not concern them," the parliamentarian criticized. Watch the full forum here.

"Every time Quiroz appears, things go wrong for Chile. First, it was with the collusions, and now with political decisions like the gas price hike that raised living costs for all Chileans," the socialist parliamentarian stated in an interview with Xanadu Radio.

Mario Aguilar, president of the teachers' union, pointed out that while the issue of security through the Protected Schools project was mentioned, "nothing was said about what we understand to be the fundamental problem causing severe acts of violence, which is mental health." This, combined with an "entirely outdated" curriculum and societal issues affecting families, inevitably spills over into schools as violence, the leader argued.
