Chilean Musician Tomás González Releases «No Hay Lugar,» His Most Intimate and Expansive Album Yet

Chilean musician, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Tomás González has launched «No hay lugar,» his third studio album, now available across all digital platforms.

Co-produced with Vicente Cuadros, the album features 10 tracks that traverse genres such as pop, electronic, world music, and singer-songwriter influences, establishing an artistic proposal that blends lyrical depth, sonic sophistication, and a keen observation of contemporary life.

«This work explores the loneliness of urban dwellers and the complex human relationships of our times. On a more personal level, the album is permeated by grief following the passing of my parents, transforming it into a reflection on loss, absence, and the search for meaning,» explains the artist.

The result is an urban atmosphere where electronic sounds interplay with rhythms and instruments from diverse musical traditions, culminating in a melancholic yet dance-inspiring work.

Furthermore, the album strikes a balance between electronic music, traditional rhythms, and acoustic instruments, enhanced by epic choruses, brass, strings, percussions, and woven electronic textures, creating a rich and vibrant sonic universe.

Notable Collaborations

The new album features prominent musicians and collaborators that enhance its sound diversity.

The choruses include contributions from Marcela Millie, Mariel Villagra, Trinidad González, Magdalena Chacón, and Matteo Citarella; electric guitar by Juan Pablo Villanueva; percussion by Jhoamy Lins, and Tomás himself.

The brass section includes Alfredo Tauber (trombone), Ítalo Viveros (trumpet), and Pablo Jara (baritone sax). For the string section, Ángela Acuña (cello) and Daniella Rivera (violin) contribute, alongside a special appearance by musician Rodrigo Caçapa, who adds Brazilian viola on one of the singles, enriching the album’s sonic atmosphere.

All contributors perfectly blend with Tomás González and co-producer Vicente Cuadros, who also participate with various instruments.

The release of «No hay lugar» crowns a creative process that included a series of previews: «Arder,» debuted in January 2025 at the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM) during the Tocatas Mil festival; «Este es el país,» released in May 2025; «En esta casa,» launched in January 2026; and «Hey vous!» which premiered recently in April 2026 along with a music video.

As part of this launch, Tomás González will perform the album live on Tuesday, July 7, at the Sala Master of Radio Universidad de Chile, in a concert that will showcase the complete universe of this new production for the first time.

“Bailar,” the Heart of the Album

Featuring a special appearance by Chilean singer Mariel Mariel, the song intertwines synthesizers, Brazilian percussion, brass, and an unexpected section inspired by Ciranda rhythm.

The song tells the story of a person dancing in the street while feeling the judgment of onlookers. More than an individual gesture, the dance serves as a tool for survival and collective resistance: a metaphor for uprootedness and the quest for belonging in the world.

Tomás González is a versatile artist with a solid career in both music and the performing arts. With simple language and profound lyrics, his compositions place words in a central role while incorporating multiple sound influences.

He has released the albums «Lengua muerta» (2010) and «Orangután» (2014), the latter nominated for Best Singer-Songwriter at the Pulsar Awards.

The release of «No hay lugar» (2026) comes at a time of intense activity for the artist. At the end of 2025, he returned from Stockholm, Sweden, where he spent two months composing music for a theatrical production by Riksteatern.

Additionally, on January 20, 2026, he performed at the Teatro Caupolicán alongside Brazilian musician Ney Matogrosso, as part of the Santiago a Mil Festival. Lastly, in October of this year, he will travel to Spain for the revival of the play «Neva,» in which he participates as both an actor and pianist.
