Of Paper, the production that birthed the Silencio Blanco Company in 2010, is making its debut at one of the world’s premier performing arts venues: New York’s Lincoln Center.

This piece is part of the Lincoln Center Presents series, aimed at children, teens, and families, featuring six performances at the Clark Studio Theater on Friday, November 6, Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8, at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM (New York time; 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM in mainland Chile).

The two performances on Sunday, November 8, will be relaxed performances: accessible to all audiences and especially welcoming to individuals with autism, sensory disorders, communication difficulties, or learning challenges.

The New York presentation follows their participation in the Canadian festival for young audiences, La Mèche Courte, in Montreal, marking the international journey of a show that, 16 years after its premiere, continues to be a gateway into the company’s artistic language.

The activities of Silencio Blanco are part of their Management Plan for 2025-2027, funded by the National Fund for the Promotion and Development of the Performing Arts, Established Companies, Call for 2025 – Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage.

Engaging the Audience

Of Paper is an invitation to play. The performance delves into the relationship between the puppet and its handler, creating a bond with the audience: through interactive play, a paper puppet comes to life with the assistance of the viewers, gradually unveiling a delicate and poetic connection to childhood.

«Of Paper is the piece that started it all for us in 2010. Bringing it to Lincoln Center sixteen years later feels like returning to the company’s roots, but in front of a new audience. For a puppet made of newspaper to reach one of the world’s most important stages speaks volumes about what theater can do with simple elements,» says Dominga Gutiérrez, director and actress of Silencio Blanco.

The company has gained recognition for its meticulous work with highly expressive puppets crafted from everyday materials like newspaper and chopsticks. The emotional eloquence of these creations has driven the company’s international outreach among children and families through performances in Norway, Russia, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Belgium, France, Portugal, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Denmark.
