Centro Arte Alameda invites you to a unique cinematic and sensory experience on Friday, July 24, at 6:45 PM, featuring a special screening of «The Great Journey (Planètes),» the latest feature film from acclaimed French-Japanese filmmaker and visual artist Momoko Seto.

After the screening, attendees will have an exclusive opportunity to engage in a discussion with the director, moderated by Cristóbal León («La Casa Lobo,» «Los Hiperbóreos»).

Following a successful international tour that includes official selections at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, the production arrives at Centro Arte Alameda as a special feature, thanks to the collaboration with Cinetopia, the Embassy of France, the French Institute in Chile, Alga, and ProChile.

The film stands out as a dazzling ecological fable that transforms four tiny dandelion seeds into the heroines of a cosmic adventure.

Set against the backdrop of Earth’s destruction by a nuclear disaster, these diminutive survivors are propelled into space, embarking on an intergalactic journey in search of a place where life can once again flourish.

Supported by an extraordinary blend of digital animation, time-lapse photography, and immersive sound design, «The Great Journey» creates a one-of-a-kind sensory experience that invites viewers to contemplate the world from the perspective of its small protagonists. As they traverse unknown planets, the seeds encounter extreme natural phenomena, fascinating yet hostile creatures, shaping a narrative about cooperation, resilience, and the persistence of life.

This special event serves as a fantastic opportunity to meet Momoko Seto (1980, Japan), one of the most unique experimental artists and filmmakers today.

Born in Tokyo, she later moved to France to study at Le Fresnoy. She works as a director for the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research in France), creating scientific documentaries.

In 2021, she received the Cristal Award from CNRS, and in 2022, she was honored by the Fondation Gan pour le Cinéma. Her work consistently exists at the intersection of cinema, contemporary art, and scientific research.
