Applications are open until May 31, 2026, for the latest edition of ‘Cines en el Borde’, a training program specifically designed to support audiovisual projects in their early development, pre-production, or production stages.

This initiative, driven by the Chilean Corporation for Video and Electronic Arts in collaboration with Mucha Media, focuses on promoting new audiovisual languages, including experimental cinema, innovative narratives, expanded cinema, video art, and video installation, with an aim to foster critical intersections between art and technology.

Catalina Ossa, executive director of the Corporation, emphasizes that the program’s core lies in its technical and creative support, highlighting the importance of early-stage production and establishing itself as a key online space for the decentralization of creation in Chile.

The invitation is directed towards Chilean citizens or residents aged 18 and over who lead projects in initial phases. Due to the program’s educational nature, completed works or projects at advanced stages that hinder processes of review or modification will not be accepted.

Selected projects (up to a maximum of 10) will receive:

  • Specialized consultations: Eight online sessions from June to September, led by director and academic María Court (Chile) and filmmaker María Belén Poncio (Argentina).
  • Masterclasses: Two additional sessions with experts (dates to be confirmed).
  • Regional commitment: At least 50% of selected projects will come from regions outside the Metropolitan area.

Timeline and Application

The selection process will be managed by professionals from the Corporation and Mucha Media. Key milestones include:

  • Application: From May 4 to May 31, 2026 (until 11:59 PM Chile time).
  • Results: June 15, 2026.
  • Sessions: Fridays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Interested individuals must complete the online form, including project description, motivation, biography, and visual references. All materials must be submitted in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles. To review the complete guidelines and access the application form, please visit this link.
