Original article: Quinta Normal invita a celebrar la poesía como Patrimonio de la Humanidad con un recital poético-musical
In Quinta Normal, poetry (both oral and written) will unite with music to create a vibrant cultural gathering that aims to celebrate poetry as a UNESCO World Heritage. This event will feature prominent voices from contemporary literary and musical creation, welcoming the public and community to an open recital.
The event is scheduled for May 20th at 7:00 PM at the Teatro de la Casona Dubois (Ayuntamiento 1650), a significant cultural venue in the area.
This initiative is organized by the QuintaLee reading promotion program and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Quinta Normal, in collaboration with the International Poetry Festival of Santiago (FIP Santiago), establishing a cultural alliance focused on encouraging reading, creative writing, and public access to the arts and literature.
The recital will showcase renowned Chilean poet Manuel Silva Acevedo, a leading figure in Hispanic American poetry and National Literature Prize winner; Spanish poet Silvia Veloso; writer and translator Jessica Sequeira, who will present her performative and sound project Lux Violeta; poet Fanny Campos; writer Camilo Brodsky; and the acclaimed singer Gabriel Huentemil.
“This gathering proposes a dialogue between poetry, music, and oral tradition, bringing together various generations, geopoetics, and artistic sensitivities around the universal value of words. From written poetry to folk songs and sound experimentation, the event aims to highlight the diverse ways in which poetic creation manifests today,” stated the event organizers.
Thus, Manuel Silva Acevedo’s participation will delve into the national poetic tradition; Gabriel Huentemil will enrich the event with the essential expression of Chilean cultural heritage known as canto a lo poeta; Jessica Sequeira’s Lux Violeta will integrate poetry, voice, and soundscapes into an interdisciplinary experience; while Silvia Veloso, Fanny Campos, and Camilo Brodsky will engage in a poetic dialogue bridging territory and generations.
“The event aims to be a cultural meeting place and a space for reflection, reaffirming poetry as a tool for memory, identity, and dialogue among peoples,” highlighted the organization of this unmissable multidisciplinary poetic recital.
