Certain songs endure over time. Melodies and lyrics that reappear repeatedly, accompanying both personal and collective moments, essentially become the soundtrack of our lives.

This essence is what inspired Banda de la Memoria, a collective composed of talented and well-known national artists from various musical backgrounds. Their friendship has blossomed into a space for dialogue, connection, and shared enjoyment through music.

Together, they reminisce about songs that have left a significant mark on the Chilean musical repertoire, songs that remain alive in the memories of multiple generations.

The ensemble features Jorge Campos, Ismael Oddó, Pedro Villagra, Cuti Aste, and Edita Rojas. They will be joined by a special guest, renowned as one of the most representative voices of Chilean singer-songwriter music, creating a musical journey through a repertoire that is part of the collective memory of several generations.

Scheduled for Thursday, June 11, at 7:30 PM, the concert at Sala Máster of Radio U. de Chile is titled «The Songs We’ve Sung All Our Lives.» The lineup includes works by essential artists and groups such as Víctor Jara, Quilapayún, Congreso, Los Tres, Los Prisioneros, Santiago del Nuevo Extremo, and Electrodomésticos, traversing different eras and styles of Chilean music.

«Songs do the work of bringing us together, pausing time, because we have been witnesses, we are involved, until we meet again,» says bassist Jorge Campos, highlighting those enduring works that continue to resonate and are fundamental to Chilean popular music.

Banda de la Memoria initially emerged as a project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Chilean coup d’état.

However, the deep connection established with audiences allowed the initiative to transcend that context. The enthusiastic reception, applause, and gratitude from attendees encouraged its members to continue this musical journey, solidifying a proposal that continues to attract new audiences.
