In light of Chile's challenging economic landscape, former Finance Minister Mario Marcel has criticized the Kast administration's decision to stop the Fuel Price Stabilization Mechanism, which led to a historic increase in fuel prices, questioning if the government fully understood the impact of this move.
Trinidad Steinert has resurfaced as a significant concern for the government of José Antonio Kast, as opposition lawmakers are considering a constitutional accusation against the former Minister of Public Security following a report from the General Comptroller indicating she overstepped her authority in her requests related to an ongoing criminal investigation.
"It is unacceptable that the second major green lung of the Metropolitan Region, with an investment exceeding $50 billion and over 90% completion, is at risk because the government has decided not to take responsibility for its maintenance," stated Metropolitan Regional Governor Claudio Orrego.
The Maipú mayor pointed out that the cross-party proposal from mayors to focus tax collection solely on individuals over 65 years with homes valued above 250 million pesos and average monthly earnings over 3 million pesos, "was outright rejected by the Ministry of Finance."
