In a late-night session, the Finance Commission of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies approved a contentious economic-tax reform bill, which includes tax cuts and a long-term tax shield aimed at benefiting the wealthy and large corporations.

The Ministry of Security's recent operations and their effectiveness are under scrutiny as questions arise regarding how many detainees remain in custody and the lack of a structured security plan from the government.

Following José Antonio Kast's controversial remarks about his promise to expel 300,000 migrants, opposition leaders have accused him of deceit during his electoral campaign, asserting that he has instead cut essential social rights since taking office.

Rafael Araos's departure from the Undersecretariat of Science has exposed significant internal conflicts within the government, as he disputed Minister Ximena Lincolao's dismissal narrative and confirmed the existence of a massive layoff plan.
